This is the part where I introduce Sam - he’s a good mate of mine and a fellow songwriter, we’ve been writing together for years. During the Covid pandemic, we embarked on an ambitious project to pen lyric and melody to abstract states of emotion and virtue. What would ‘patience’ sound like if you gave it a melody? What story would ‘truth’ tell if it could sing?
The project is still on the go, but we’ve released a few tasters so people can start engaging with it.

When the best song for a moment has already been written, what can you do except cover it?
Here are a couple of covers I’ve recorded, re-imagined from the original tracks to create familiarity and curiosity.
Commissions
Giving someone the gift of a song that’s just ‘theirs’ is a particularly unexpected and beautiful present. For every commission I’ve done, I’ve worked closely with the client to make sure the style, content and feel of the song is right for the intended recipient. It’s one of my favourite things to do; to write from scratch for a particular person or group and, ultimately, give the gift of a song.
